Challenge
The original time-off screen listed requests by status (approved, pending, rejected) but lacked bird’s-eye visibility across the workforce. HR managers had no quick way to see overlaps or workforce gaps, relying instead on manual calculations from dates. Annual and sick leave categories were buried below long lists, making them easy to miss. In enterprise HR SaaS, reducing user dropoff on SaaS setup screens depends on clear visualization, fast scanning, and avoiding cognitive overload during workforce planning.

Our Approach
We introduced a time-off summary bar to give managers instant visibility across statuses (Visual Hierarchy). A timeline view replaced static date lists, helping HR teams quickly spot overlaps or undercoverage (Cognitive Load reduction). The table view preserved list details for precise tracking (Progressive Disclosure). Annual leave and sick leave were redesigned as tabs instead of stacked lists, avoiding endless scrolling (Fitts’s Law efficiency). Finally, company leave policies were surfaced at the top to act as signifiers, ensuring teams always see the rules before making requests.

Outcomes
The redesigned page allows HR managers to see trends at a glance, reduce errors, and plan proactively. Employees benefit from a smoother request process with clearer statuses, while managers get visibility into potential conflicts before they happen. The result: reduced churn, better adoption, and fewer scheduling bottlenecks—directly applying SaaS screen UX tips for revenue growth by improving trust and usability at scale.
